Datagram understands that email is not a “one size fits all” service and that clients have different needs to address when selecting email services and a provider. Datagram provides POP3 and IMAP4 services for clients that require just basic email functionality. We also offer groupware services from Kerio and Microsoft for clients who rely on email to collaborate various aspects of their businesses.

Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), unlike POP, keeps your messages on the server. When you click to read a message IMAP presents the message that is stored on the server. Email clients using IMAP generally leave messages on the server until the user deletes them. This and other aspects of IMAP operation allow multiple clients to access the same mailbox. Most e-mail clients support either POP3 or IMAP to retrieve messages and in both cases use SMTP for sending.
Post Office Protocol (POP) is a method used by email programs to retrieve email from the server. The important feature of POP is that when you retrieve your mail the messages are moved from the server to the computer you use to check mail. If you use POP, your mail folders are always kept on the computer running the mail client; if you later read your mail on a different computer, you will have different folders.
